Je ne savais pas que les parements en bois étaient responsables du déboisement, @bce_106_6 !
Par contre, je sais qu’en 1919, à Vienne, on a entièrement rasé les parcs et les bois alentours pour se chauffer et se construire des cabanes. Voir : ▻https://wien.orf.at/news/stories/2872070
Un mouvement de « bâtisseurs sauvages » s’est alors organisé pour construire de vraies maisons et des architectes et urbanistes visionnaires, comme Margarethe Schütte-Lihotzkhy, ou alors le génial Otto Neurath, leur ont emboité le pas et développé des habitations sociales qui alliaient confort et esthétique. La municipalité austro-marxiste a ensuite réalisé le programme des Höfe, dont le Karl-Marx-Hof, que tu peux visiter pour te rendre compte de ce que peut être le logement social quand il tient compte de la qualité esthétique du complexe et de la qualité de vie des habitants.
Excellente satire, @rastapopoulos, des politiques d’urbanisation des années 1960/70, quand il fallait pallier l’urgence. Aujourd’hui, le problème est autre : on ne construit pas assez de logement social. Sauf (peut-être) à Vienne...
Les parements en bois seraient ils fabriqués avec des déchets recyclés, ou sont ils là pour que les bétonneurs se payent une nouvelle facade écolo ? @nepthys

On Saturday 29 July 1933 around a hundred congress participants laden with a vast quantity of maps and reports, several typewriters and a stencil machine boarded the liner Patris II in Marseille to voyage to Athens.

This time wives of the congress participants were also present, and non-members had been admitted to the recently established circle of ‘Friends of the CIAM’. They included writers and editors of periodicals, a musician, a physician and artists such as Fernand Léger en László Moholy-Nagy.
For the Gazette des Beaux-Arts G. Brunon Guardia wrote about the congress and described it as ‘an original crusade’. “The whole of this holiday world forms a floating Tower of Babel, full of friendliness and good cheer, full of picturesqueness, in a word, extremely “Montparnasse”-like.’
Moholy-Nagy filmed the fourth congress. The film shows the atmosphere aboard the Patris II, the journey through the Corinth Canal, impressions of Athens with the ancient Acropolis as well as modern architecture, and the cruise at the Aegean Sea with visits to the Cyclades Seriphos, Santorini and Ios.

What is the state of art in today’s visual language? Signs, icons and ideograms determine our daily communication; pictographic guidance systems dominate public space. Much of what we understand as visual language originates in Otto Neurath’s Vienna Method of Pictorial Statistics, later known as ISOTYPE (International System of Typographic Picture Education).
The exhibition presents various artistic strategies for using pictograms and pictorial statistics to visualise political, social, global or purely individual agendas. Original works by social economist and Vienna Circle philosopher Neurath (1882 Vienna – 1945 Oxford) will feature alongside contemporary pieces.

Pictograms, icons and apps, ... analog and digital signs determine our daily communication, visual guidance systems dominate public space. The most recent political revolutions have also relied on universally understandable pictograms. That which is state of the art in today’s media originates from Otto Neurath’s system of visualization: ISOTYPE (International System of Typographic Picture Education).

Neurath, who?
Few contemporary users or designers of pictograms are aware of their historical roots – the method of picture education and pictorial statistics created by the Austrian social economist and philosopher Otto Neurath (b. 10. Dec.1882 in Vienna, d. 22. Dec.1945 in Oxford) and his German-born graphic artist Gerd Arntz (1900–1988).
The year 2012 commemorates the 130th anniversary of Otto Neurath’s birth. On this momentous occasion, art historian Maria Christine Holter and artist Barbara Höller are curating an exhibition investigating the significance of Neurath’s pictorial ideas for visual arts at present and for global communication. The show will focus on various strategies for using pictograms and pictorial statistic in realizing communicational aims, particularly in the clear and powerful visualization of political, social, global or purely individual agendas.
